Immediate Supervisor: Athletic Director
Terms of Employment: Salary and length of employment period to be established in accordance with the certified collective bargaining agreement.
Evaluation: Contract renewable on an annual basis contingent upon budget, evaluation and need.

Job Goal: Provide leadership to develop and maintain a high quality Cheer program that promotes school spirit. Gladstone High School Cheer program will focus on school events, game participation, and school spirit. Any competition preparation will be in addition and will not be a priority over school events/games.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of three years prior successful high school head coaching experience preferred.
- Demonstrates strong leadership and moral character.
- Possesses interpersonal skills to work positively with parents, staff and students.
- Follows District and OSAA policies and procedures.
- Demonstrates ability to organize large groups and to lead fundraising efforts.
- NFHS Certification.
- OSAA Safety Certification.
- First Aid/CPR Certification.
- Three letters of recommendation directly related to coaching qualifications.
Essential Functions:
- Regular attendance and punctuality.
- Organize and direct the support staff in areas that carry out the philosophy and expectations of the program.
- Organize and direct the cheer program in promoting school spirit.
- Promote and demonstrate positive sportsmanship to team members, colleagues, opponents, officials and spectators.
- Teach the fundamentals of the sport in a manner that provides opportunities for all athletes to learn and improve.
- Support the importance of the role academics plays in the life of the student-athlete.
- Demonstrate appropriate professional conduct at practices and during competitions.

- Share your philosophy and expectations clearly with your players, other coaches, parents and the community.
- Report scores to the appropriate newspapers and the athletic secretary in a timely manner.
- Attend booster meetings during your season and report on the team.
- Be consistent, firm and fair when disciplining an athlete.
- Provide supervision of athletes at all times and maintain security of locker room area.
- Work cooperatively with other programs and the school administration.
- Work cooperatively with the staff at Gladstone High School to support their needs.
- Provide high school student/athletes with off-season programs, including strength and conditioning, which will help them develop their full potential.
- Attend all coaches’ and league meetings.
- Follow District policy when submitting requests for equipment purchases.
- Maintain all uniforms and practice equipment, including check-out and collection procedures.
- Maintain and prepare facilities for practice and games when necessary.
- Follow District guidelines for hiring assistant coaches.
- Evaluate assistant coaches and provide staffing recommendations for the following season.
- Keep up-to-date on the changes and developments in your sport.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
